Beyond the Project, Towards the Origin of Ideas.
Through conversations with designers, curators and cultural voices, the series looks beyond the finished object to investigate where ideas come from, how they evolve and what they reveal about the world around us.
On 21 October 2025, the Ditre Italia flagship store on Via Solferino in Milan hosted the first episode of Beyond Design – Unveiling World, a new talk series created in partnership with Mo.1950.
Conceived as a space to view design from a different angle, Beyond Design explores the creative and cultural territory surrounding each project: the series traces the ideas, references, and encounters that shape it, bringing design into conversation with other disciplines and forms of knowledge.
The showroom becomes a place for dialogue between worlds that are often closer than they appear: art and design, culture and technology, intuition and function. At the heart of the series is the encounter between Ditre Italia and the designers who have contributed to defining its language, exchanges more than collaborations, capable of leaving a mark on both sides.
The first episode featured Nika Zupanc, one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary international design, in conversation with Domitilla Dardi, curator and design historian, whose research spans the history, theory, and evolution of contemporary design.
The dialogue moved beyond design as a method to investigate the origins of ideas and their relationship to culture, geography, and identity.
Themes of femininity, feminism, and the tension between individual expression and brand collaboration emerged throughout the conversation, opening a broader reflection on the many roles design can assume today: a form of personal expression, a cultural practice and a way of interpreting the world.
With Beyond Design, the Ditre Italia Flagship store’s location becomes the starting point for asking where ideas come from, how they evolve, and what they reveal about the time and culture in which we live.
