Amid the vineyards of Monferrato, in the Piedmont landscape recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Villa Tinella brings together the character of a historic residence and a contemporary idea of living. The renovation, led by Derkina Wiegman of Derkina Interior Design, transforms the house into a holiday home while preserving the architectural elements that define its identity.
Decorated ceilings, traditional flooring and stone staircases remain part of the interior, alongside ochre façades, shutters and historic balconies that continue the relationship with the surrounding landscape. Inside, natural materials, warm tones and contemporary details establish a new balance between the existing architecture and the requirements of contemporary hospitality.
At the centre of this transformation is the kitchen. Wiegman selected Cesar’s N_Elle collection, developed for Villa Tinella with the technical and design support of Mo.1950. The project involved the customisation of finishes and composition, allowing the kitchen to respond to both the architect’s vision and the specific requirements of the home.
The clean lines of the composition, the slim stainless-steel countertop and the angled recessed handles introduce a precise contemporary language into the more classical setting. The island becomes the centre of the living area: a place for cooking, sharing and gathering, conceived by Wiegman as a “living kitchen” capable of accompanying different moments of the day.
Its open-plan configuration also establishes a visual connection with the hills of Monferrato. Textured surfaces, natural wood and neutral tones echo the colours of the landscape, extending the relationship between interior and territory.
For Mo.1950, the project represents the technical development of a highly customised kitchen solution, from the interpretation of the design concept through to production and installation. The result is a project in which the kitchen is not an isolated element, but part of the architectural envelope and of the way the house is intended to be experienced.
Overlooking the vineyards, with a terrace and infinity pool opening towards the surrounding hills, Villa Tinella becomes a contemporary interpretation of a historic residence, where architecture, interior design and the landscape remain closely connected.
